Visual Arts

Students attend weekly art classes in our dedicated Art Room.  Our Visual Arts program focuses on the process of creating visual art and exploration through demonstrations and hands-on laboratory style learning of traditional and contemporary visual arts and artists.  Student artists develop skills and techniques that expose them to wide ranging media from pencil, pastel, and charcoal, to watercolor and acrylics, as well as working with sculptural forms like collage, clay, and recycled materials.  Students learn art history, create innovative works of art, and learn how to develop their observational skills and unique forms of self expression.  The school year culminates with students experiencing the critical and curatorial process of creating a school wide museum exhibition.  During the weeks the museum is installed, our proud student artists become their own museum-going public, which helps connect them even more to the larger, outside world!
