Science Lab

The Mar Vista Science Program follows the California Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) utilizing the FOSS NextGen program.  Mar Vista has a dedicated Science Lab for classes and students to come to explore and learn about the world of science around them.  Our goal is for students to:

1.  Know, use, and interpret scientific explanations of the natural world

2.  Generate and evaluate scientific evidence and explanations

3.  Understand the nature and development of scientific knowledge

4.  Participate productively in scientific practices and discourse

Our MVSEG Booster Club provides funding for our Science Lab Aides, Holly McCormick and Erin Olson, to support teachers with curriculum and instruction for physical science, earth science, and life science.  The children study a variety of topics in an exciting, hands-on format, including but not limited to:

• Insect Life Cycles 
• Plant Life Cycles
• Physical Sciences
• Geological processes
