Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

The Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program works to ensure that students who demonstrate outstanding ability or potential are helped to make the most of their unique talents and capabilities.  The GATE program provides differentiated instruction to students with exceptional intellectual ability, high achievement ability, specific academic ability, leadership, creativity, and visual and performing arts abilities. Instructional programs are planned and organized as an integrated experience throughout the regular school day, supplemented with other differentiated activities related to the core curriculum.  For more information, visit our District's GATE Programs website.

SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED STUDIES (SAS)

SAS sites were developed to provide programs that serve the educational needs of learners demonstrating high ability or academic achievement.  As an SAS school our goals are to:  improve educational opportunities for students, support students’ intellectual and academic growth, provide a rigorous and enriched curriculum which supports critical thinking and problem solving, and enhance the growth of our faculty through meaningful professional development.  For more information, please visit our District's SAS website.

The SAS program allows students who do not reside within our school’s boundaries to attend Mar Vista on an SAS permit if students meet eligibility criteria and there is space availability at the school.  SAS permit students are fully integrated into the regular student body.
